New Redsn0w 0.10.0a1

Jailbreak Untethered:

iPhone 6 - 5S - 5C - 5 - 4S - 4 - 3GS ; iPad Air 4 - 3 - 2 & iPad Air,  Mini, Mini 2 ; iPod Touch 5G

( 19 September 2014 ) - Official iOS 7.2 Redsn0w Final Version!!! by @Pod2g

Downgrade From iOS 8 to iOS 7.2 Jailbreak Untethered

  • Soon after iOS 7.2 appears on Apple’s public servers (i.e. iTunes starts to offer it), Apple will stop signing 7 SHSH blobs.
  • If you have an iPhone 6, 5S ;5C; 5, the basic rule above is really the only rule:  you cannot restore back to 7 once the  iOS 7.2  signing window is closed, no matter what (even if you saved your SHSH blobs).
  • If you have an iPad Air, 4, 3, 2 iPad mini with saved 4.x hashes, you can in fact downgrade to that 4.x but you won’t be able to get to 7 once the iOS 7.2 signing window is closed (even if you saved your 7 SHSH blobs).
  • If you have a device earlier than the iPad Air, 4, 3, 2 you can downgrade to whatever version you want, as long as you have saved SHSH blobs for that version.  You’ll need the assistance of geohot’s limera1n exploit with tools like redsn0w to get into “pwned DFU mode” and bypass the downgrade restriction.

New Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 - ( 18 September 2013 ) -

iOS 6.1.3

iPhone 4S - 4 - 3GS ; iPad 3 & iPad 2  iPod touch 2G, 3G, 4G

Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3: iPhone 6.1.3 jailbreak is now possible thanks to the guys behind the RedSn0w jailbreaking tool.  RedSn0w has been updated to the latest version  Redsn0w 0.9.15b3, and although it does not natively support iOS6.1.3, iPhone 6.1.3 jailbreak can be achieved by just pointing RedSn0w towards iOS 6, which it supports, so that’s not a problem. Read on for the detailed tutorial.  I hope that i make it easier for people who are doing it for the first time. The people who have been around the block could probably do this now with their eyes closed.

New Absinthe - iPhone 5 - 4S and iPad 2 -

  iOS 6.0.2

Windows & Mac

Here it comes. Now you can finally jailbreak iPhone 5 - 4 - 4S and iPad 2 - 3 - 4  running iOS 6.0.2 untethered jailbreak. GreenPois0n Absinthe jailbreak tool has been released which works on iPad iOS 6.0.2 and iPhone 4S both iOS 6.0.2 . Below is the full guide on how to jailbreak iPhone 5 (6.0.2 – or iPad 3, 4  untethered with the new tool.

There has been much work on this jailbreak. Since the release of iOS 5.0.1 3 months ago, hackers have been working hard to achieve the untethered jailbreak on all devices. Pod2g first released the untethered jailbreak for all A4 devices running iOS 5.0.1. Now, with the help of the dream team, pod2g could release his untethered jailbreak for A5 devices so that all devices are now jailbroken.
Follow the steps below which shows you how to use GreenPois0n Absinthe to jailbreak iPhone 4S on iOS 5 / 5.0.1 and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1.

STEP 1: Backup your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and restore it using the iOS 5.0.1 or 5.0 IPSW file downloaded above.
STEP 2: Plug in your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 you want to jailbreak.
STEP 3: Now open GreenPois0n Absinthe and make sure that your device is detected then hit the jailbreak button as shown.

STEP 4: Now you’ll see “Restoring in Progress”, you should wait for few minutes. Once done, get on your iPhone and you’ll find an icon named “Absinthe”, hit it and this will open which will install Cydia on your device replacing the Absinthe icon as shown.

New Redsn0w 0.9.10b3 Beta 2 - ( 02 January 2012 ) - iOS 5.0.1

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam.  We’ve put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).
Here are the basic steps for how to get it:
  • The untether is for iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPhone4-CDMA, iPad1, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G
  • If you have one of those devices and are not on 5.0.1 yet, update now!  The SHSH window is still open for 5.0.1  If you unlock via ultrasn0w or gevey, make sure you only get to 5.0.1 via a custom IPSW!  See the guides at places like if you don’t know how.  Once you’re at 5.0.1, use the latest redsn0w 0.9.10 to both jailbreak and untether.
  • If you’re already at 5.0.1 with a tethered jailbreak, you have two choices: either run redsn0w 0.9.10 over your current jailbreak (deselect “Install Cydia” if you do that), or install the Cydia package prepared by the chronic devteam.  The patches are the same regardless of which you choose.
  • Some of you are using a hybrid 5.0/5.0.1 configuration.  If so, do not attempt to install this untether over that setup!  You will most likely get into a reboot cycle.  Do a sync and fresh restore to 5.0.1 then install the jailbreak + untether.

New Redsn0w 0.9.9b9b - ( 19 December 2011 ) - iOS 5.0.1

  • native support for 5.0.1 (no need to point redsn0w at 5.0 IPSW or use command-line args).  Support automatically extends to all of redsn0w’s various functions: “Jailbreak”, “Just boot”, “Fetch blobs”, “Stitch blobs”, “Recovery Fix”
  • iBooks fixed in 5.0 and 5.0.1.  This is a targeted fix that doesn’t remove entire sandbox mechanism.  5.x users already using redsn0w “Just Boot” can just use the new version without redoing entire jailbreak again
  • 3GS old-bootrom owners can now create custom IPSWs without blobs
  • ultrasn0w compatability update (i.e. same baseband requirements) for 5.0.1 will be available on Cydia Monday
  • support for newer 8GB iPhone4 (which until now had problems with “Fetch blobs”).  Thanks to @JKjeepnJeff for loaning us one of these newer i4 units for testing!
  • allows Windows users (not just OS X users) to use the “Custom” button to create IPSWs without baseband updates.  (Update: please wait for 0.9.9b9b for this!)
  • accommodates APTickets in 5.x (until next Apple countermove).  APTickets are crypto-verified before submitting to Cydia, just like the main blobs.  Cydia server support for sending back the APTickets is upcoming.  For now, use stitched IPSWs for 5.x.  Due to APTickets, stitched 5.x IPSWs now require user to start in “Pwned DFU” mode
  • Support added for stitching 4.x blobs to iPad2-GSM IPSWs.  Similar to @notcom’s TinyCFW but doesn’t require lots of RAM or a TSS-assisted restore. Won’t work for iPad2 5.x blobs (or iPhone4S at all) until a bootrom-level exploit is out
  • top line now shows whether (and where) a redsn0w update is available, or if the version being run is the latest.  Uses DNS TXT record to alleviate any concerns about snooping
  • no 5.1 beta support at this time (major apps like Cydia are not yet compatible)

New Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 - ( 11 December 2011 ) - iOS 5.0.1

With the release of iOS 5.0.1 yesterday, the iPhone Dev Team has updated their most-popular jailbreak tool redsn0w to bring iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak. Although the previous redsn0w version support iOS 5.0.1, you had to point it to iOS 5 IPSW file. Now with redsn0w 0.9.9b8, you can just point it to the iOS 5.0.1 firmware file.

You can follow the guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 using redsn0w 0.9.9b8, you should just skip the step of pointing redsn0w to iOS 5 firmware and instead point it to the iOS 5.0.1.
Full changelog:
Update #16: redsn0w version 0.9.9b8 will natively recognize the 5.0.1 beta that Apple let developers start testing this week (so you don’t have to play the “point at 5.0 IPSW” trick).  Because the IPSW isn’t public, you’ll still need to provide it once to redsn0w (at which point it will cache all the important pieces so you don’t need to select it again).
For those 3GS and i4 users who preserve their baseband, the Mac version can also produce the NO_BB_* custom IPSWs for 5.0.1.  (But please note that ultrasn0w doesn’t get updated for betas like this.)
This is still a tethered jailbreak for all except old-bootrom 3GS users.

The iPhone Dev Team has just released Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 which brings untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 so you don't need to plug in your iPhone every time you reboot it. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 is based on i0n1c's untethered exploit. Check out the supported devices after the jump.

 iOS 4.3.1

Redsn0w 0.9.6 R9

Supported devices:
  • iPhone 4, 3GS
  • iPod Touch 4G, 3G
  • iPad 1 (Unfortunately iPad 2 still not supported)
  • Apple TV 2G.

NOTE: Users who rely on ultrasn0w unlock MUST stay away from Redsn0w.
Step 1: Download Redsn0w for your computer and the 4.3.1 firmware for your device. To make it easy save them both to the desktop on your computer.

Step 2: Now simply select “Install Cydia” and click “Next”.
Step 3: Now make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click “Next”.
At this stage you will be presented with a screen where you will be guided on how to enter DFU mode. Quickly hold “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too. Now after few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins.

Step 4: Wait shortly. Once done, your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will restart automatically and you will find it fully jailbroken (untethered) on the latest iOS 4.3.1 firmware.
